Missouri Interfaith Disaster Response Organization (MIDRO)
Application for Funding
Please read the entire document before filling out the application.
The Missouri Interfaith Disaster Response Organization (MIDRO) was founded following the 1993 Flood that impacted hundreds of Missouri communities. Faith based organizations responding to unmet needs decided to coordinate their efforts to provide better responses and to reduce duplication and assure better stewardship of resources. Since then MIDRO has become a key partner in the Missouri Governor’s Faith Based Organizations Disaster Initiative (FABODI). Working with state and local governments and voluntary organizations, MIDRO is able to help financially and to help generate volunteer responses among participating faith based organizations (FBO’s). MIDRO is a 501.c.3, tax exempt organization that welcomes participation by any faith based organization.
MIDRO grants are jointly funded by eight participating regional or state-level faith based organizations. Applications are processed by telephone conference call and email review of applications. Not all applications can be fully funded so be sure to continue making application to other organizations.
As applications are received and approved, MIDRO members contact their respective FBO’s and request an amount to be included in the grant. As those funds become available (usually within 7-14 days), MIDRO can then notify applicants of the amounts awarded and release the funds.
In order to help MIDRO replenish funds for additional grants we ask that your organization send brief quarterly updates and photos depicting progress along with written permission to edit and use updates and materials on the MIDRO website and in promotional materials.
If your faith based organization is not a member of MIDRO, please encourage then to join. There is no cost and any partial funding of MIDRO grants is completely voluntary.
Thank you for allowing us to collaborate with you as you serve and support those in your communities affected by disaster.
Cordially,
Dan Porterfield
Chairperson, MIDRO
