About disaster readiness coordinators (DRC)
“Quick show of hands. How many of you know this congregation’s plan of action should the severe storm warnings go off today during worship?” Not a single hand was raised.
Would that be true of your congregation?
Faith-based organizations claim to have a plan for a safe and secure eternal life. Would that message be more credible if we also planned for the safety and security of those who come onto our campuses and/or worship in our facilities on a daily basis?
Disaster Readiness Coordinators is an ecumenical organization of faith-based communities and their representatives. We are a group of adults and youth willing to help our individual faith communities to take steps to begin, or to improve plans, for our congregations to both survive and serve through a community-wide disaster. DRC provides training opportunities, workshops, networking and forums for sharing best-practices.
