MISSOURI INTERFAITH DISASTER                  RESPONSE ORGANIZATION

MIDRO - The Missouri Interfaith Disaster Response Organization is a non-for-profit organization formed in 1993 to assist Missouri's faith communities to coordinate and collaborate in responding to disasters - especially in long-term recovery efforts.  MIDRO is not a substitute for nor in competition with efforts of denominations, associations or other religious groups.  By working together we reduce duplication, exercise better stewardship of resources, and help to provide documented evidence for grant applications and continuous funding justifications.

MIDRO continues to expand its membership among state-level faith based organizations of all religions.  MIDRO membership consists of up to two appointed representatives from every faith based organization that supports this collaborative work.  MIDRO is a recognized part of the Governor's Faith Based Organization Disaster Initiative and collaborates with State and Voluntary organizations to plan, train, place and support volunteers and funds where needed most among Missourians affected by disaster.

In addition to the Corporate Members, MIDRO will maintain a Network of people and organizations who coordinate their efforts through the work of MIDRO by sharing information, experiences, resources, and strategies with each other.  Any person or organization which works, provides services or funds, or which is involved in any way with Disaster response in Missouri may, and is encouraged to, participate in Network Gatherings.

Disaster Readiness Coordinators, a program arm of MIDRO,  is an ecumenical program of faith-based communities and their representatives.  We are a group of adults and youth willing to help their individual faith communities to take steps to begin, or to improve plans for their congregations to survive and serve through a community-wide disaster.  DRC provides training opportunities, workshops, networking and forums for sharing best-practices.
